FLOORS AND WALLS
FROM
I'm trying to pin point what genre FLOORS AND WALLS could come in to.
After watching their awesome fresh sounding set last night, at The Ocean Rooms (A Littleman night) I could hear a load of influences stand out.
In and out of Alex Adams ( Front man ) chatting, mc’ing, soulful voice, r&b, growls, great lyrics, when we could hear them and sweet audience interaction. Domonic McNultys mixed distorted and clean guitar sounds, Adam Shamps arty free flowing drums and Ian Booths nice and pretty bass playing. They're singing songs about ' hench birds ' big tits ' and ' what you lookin at boi ? You got somefing in your eye ? '
Their set takes you through fast spitting lyrics( I thought we were watching a battle for a minute ) and manic fits again by adam. In one of their songs The Sket, i thought alex was about to throw the mic stand at Ian. Rage Against The Machine, Roots Manuva, Muse, Asian Dub Foundation, Sovereign rings, The Streets, Craig David (?!)
Some of the harmonies in Sick Sad Truth made me think of Marilyn Manson for some reason! These must give you enough names to go by that these guys have their own thing going on!
Be warned though, you’re in for some proper melodic R&B sounding treats with their slower ones.
Adam, Shamp and Dom have all migrated from Thanet. (Check it out on google) They've obviously gotten away from the town in good time. They've got enough to tell you, and they'll tell you in their own way. The boys, including Ian have just finished studying at BIMM. Bimm or not, i had a good night.
Are they chavs you wonder ? Dunno and don't care.
Sick Sad Truth, (Will be a hit) Head Access, The Stand and The Sket all great songs found on their myspace www.myspace.com/floorsandwalls
